TIPS TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR CHILDREN DURING HOLIDAYS

TIPS TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR CHILDREN DURING HOLIDAYS

23/01/2020

Tet is a chance for children to eat what they want, play around, stay up late… However, this chance can leave them prone to seasonal flu, typhus, acute diarrhea caused by rotavirus, chickenpox and allergic rhinitis.

Below are some tips that you should know to prevent your children from getting sick during the holiday:

- Remind your children to wash their hands regularly with soap.

Remind your children to wash their hands before and after eating and after using the toilet. Teach them to carefully wash their fingers, palms with soap for at least 30 seconds and dry their hands after washing.

- Use the antibacterial hand sanitizer that contains alcohol.

Your children may meet a lot of people during Tet holiday. Therefore, you should keep an antibacterial hand sanitizer by your side to prevent spread of bacteria from people or dirty stuff and protect your children’s hands.

- Prepare tissue or handkerchief for your children.

Teach your children how to use tissue or handkerchief when coughing or sneezing. Throw away used tissues to keep your house bacteria-free.

- Avoid shared use of household utensils and personal items between you and your children.

Shared use can increase the risk of infectious diseases. Therefore, avoid shared use of drinking cups, foods or any items that are usually held close to eyes, mouth or nose.

- Have your children vaccinated.

You should be active in having your children vaccinated. They need to get vaccines against flu, chickenpox, diarrhea… at the right age to stay healthy in the coming year.

- Adopt a balanced and appropriate diet for your children.

Tet meals are usually high in protein but low in green. A meal with vegetables and fruits will help to enhance your children’s immune system. This is also a way to let your children stay away from sugar-rich foods.

Vitamin C is high in broccoli, strawberry and orange; vitamin D in tuna, milk and grain. You can also add probiotic yogurt to your children’s diet which is good for their digestion system.

- Maintain a balanced lifestyle.

Usually, you let your children free and stay up late during Tet. However, a balanced lifestyle should be maintained even during holiday. Lack of sleep or staying too late will double your children’s risk of getting a cold or flu.
